New Year’s Resolution – Lose the Fat

I have a confession to make today. Over the last month, we’ve had a lot of stress in our lives. My husband and I decided to pack up house, move everything into storage and come overseas to the States to stay with my family for a little while. To say the least it was an incredibly crazy, chaotic, stressful month. All while having the holiday and still doing coaching and our business.  So, I let some bad old habits to slip back into my life and I really want to come on here and confess to you guys because we are all human.

A lot of times I coach my clients and they feel really bad about “slip-ups” and get all guilty and then drop off the band wagon, altogether. They stop losing weight, they get into bad habits again. They think, “Oh god it’s all over”! Well…  It’s not!

It’s been 4 weeks that I’ve been eating way too much chocolate again. In the past that’s been my way of dealing with stress.   I also basically stopped exercising for a few weeks because we just didn’t have time. It was chaotic and we have the holidays so we just wanted to chill out. Now, it’s about a month later. I know what I’ve done and I’ve taken the steps that I needed to take to get back onto my own band wagon. One of the reasons you haven’t heard from me in the last month is because I live in integrity. To me it’s really important that if I’m going to teach you guys stuff and coach, that I’m doing whatever I tell you as well. The videos kind of stopped last month because I think unconsciously, I just couldn’t really pass the word on when I wasn’t fully living what I was preaching.

Here I am, back on the bandwagon, doing all I can do hit my next goal.  I actually hit my last goal and dropped down to size 10 after gaining the weight from my pregnancy. Now, the goal is by the 7th of April to be down to US Size 6. Here goes guys, I’m back at it.

I’m back at the gym. I haven’t stop eating chocolate completely. I have definitely had it a few times in the last few weeks but there are days that I  haven’ t had any. I’m getting back on track again. It takes an effort and I’m back on the band wagon.  After the holidays and with new year’s resolution, if you had any slip ups, any  “ooopses”, you hop back on your bandwagon as well and let’s hit our goals.

By the way overseas, we’ve moved to the Palm Springs, California area, for the time being. It’s been a lot of fun being gypsies, hanging out. We are at all sorts of different people’s houses and meeting really amazing new people. So we’ve got some fun stuff happening and that means you guys are gonna learn some really great new things this year.  Stay tuned for some regular posts coming up about some not so talked about topics!  Trust me… you won’t want to miss these, so subscribe to find out when we post next.

Who do you turn to when it all goes wrong?

Today was one of those days in motherhood when things didn’t go quite right. I was feeling really grateful today for having my mother’s group. We met at the beach today and we all just got together to share stuff that was going on and learn from each other.

The reason I’m sharing this with you is because having a support group works for moms, it works for fat loss, it works for every place in your life.

If you are looking for support in your life, create a group of people around you that will help you achieve your goals.  So if it’s asking for family support, if it’s going out, and getting a personal coach or trainer, make sure that you’re supported for your goals with your weight loss. Make sure you are supporting in your life. It really makes a huge difference.

Today I left my house feeling really really frustrated, only because I didn’t know what to do. The same thing happens with weight loss.  Sometimes it’s really frustrating because we get such conflicting facts. For me right now, I am struggling to get my little one to sleep.  One person tells me one thing, one person tells me another. It’s confusing and frustrating!

Same thing goes for weight loss, I know there are so much information out there. So it’s a matter of picking one thing and sticking with it for a while.  This is important.  So many people I know try something for a week, or even a few days.  It doesn’t work right away and they give up.  Fat loss doesn’t happen over night.  You need to keep working at it.  It took awhile to put the fat on, it may take awhile to take it off.

If you are confused by all the conflicting information out there, ask for help.  Look to people who are experts in the field.  The right thing for your friend or neighbor may work well for them, but may be the wrong approach for you.
Once you seek help from the experts.  Create a team of people around you to help support you in making your dreams come true.  this can include friends and family, co-workers etc.  Tell them what you are doing and ask them to join you in exercise and dietary changes.  Most importantly ask them to hold you accountable.

Motivation to Exercise…

Exercise can be a bit of a challenge for many people when it comes to losing weight.  I even live with a personal trainer who is obsessed with training and I have struggles to exercise.  I know what it’s like to try and get yourself up and out there when you are exhausted and it’s before or after work.  Some days, it’s just not easy.

Of course, once you start the habit of exercising, you want to get up and do it.  It becomes easy and something you actually miss if you don’t do it.  You will  love the adrenaline you get and the endorphins that rush through your system because of exercise and the all over happy feeling you are left with.  You will love your glowing skin and the ease in movement which you will get from moving more.  There are so many wonderful benefits to exericse.  So, how do you get to the point where you love exercising and don’t want to miss it?

I always find that exercising with someone is motivating.  You set aside a time and hold each other accountable.  Plus, you get to spend time with someone while exercising.  I love that!

Today’s message is simple.  If you are struggling to continue on your exercise program, get a buddy and do it together.  My friend and I walk every week together.  It’s booked in and we love doing it.  On other days, I have been known to recruit women in my mother’s group to go for walks, instead of sitting for a cuppa to catch up.  So there are a few days every week that I have scheduled time with friends to go walking.

We can push ourselves a bit harder and before you know it, an hour is over and I could keep going.

No matter what exercise you are doing…  find someone to do it with and stick with it!

Reduce Your Stress and Get Rid of Belly Fat?

At Targeted Fat Loss, we teach you how to lose fat in specific areas of the body, aka spot reduce.  The key to this is balancing your hormones.

For example, when you are stressed you release certain hormones into your body.  These hormones actually prevent your body from doing what it naturally does to recover and keep your body functioning optimally.

Stress prevents recovery from exercise… This prevents you from muscle growth, which burns the fat.  And ultimately, that’s what you want, right?  To burn the fat?

So, yes… stress can be a reason that you have a fat belly and no matter what you do, you struggle to get rid of it.

Let’s be honest, you have probably tried doing 100’s of crunches and other ab related exercises and have still found the stubborn fat not budging.

Well, it’s time to look at the stress in your life.  Stress can come in many forms, such as your work environment, family, financial, your health and so much more.  If you look at all the areas of your life, see which ones are causing you the most amount of stress and do something to reduce it.

It isn’t necessary to tackle of every area at one time, as that may cause stress too.  Just slowly ease your way into a more balanced life.

Let me give you an example of the power of this… I was in the US on holiday for two weeks recently.  I was eating lots more junk than I usually do.  I was totally expecting to have put fat on when I was there.  I was SHOCKED to see that I had actually lost fat on my belly by quite a bit upon my return.

When I asked my husband how that was possible, he responded with the fact that I had a lack of stress.  While I was there, I was totally looked after by my mom.  She cooked, did the shopping and has a housekeeper to do all the cleaning.  I truly didn’t have to worry or stress about anything.  I got to relax, exercise and play with my baby and the rest of my family.

If you really want to get rid of belly fat, than start by reducing the stress in your life.  Do one thing every day to de-stress yourself.

This is the very simple explanation of this concept.  To learn the ins and outs of how stress can be a major factor in getting rid of belly fat, check out our course on www.targetedfatloss.com.au.
