I AM SO PROUD OF MY BOYS. TOTAL GUSHY MAMA POST

By Published On: January 13th, 2019

Yesterday… the boys had their first official gymnastics meet today. People came in from California, Washington, New Mexico and all over Colorado for this event held at Air Force Academy.

It was 80 boys competing in their division. A really big meet for their first meet.

They NAILED IT. Sam was jangling around all day with his 5 medals clanking. Robbie did INCREDIBLY well today too. He had a lot more boys to compete against in his age bracket and he came home with 3 medals too. Coming in 9th overall.

And their team won. That said… I’m getting the very fast knowing… their team seems to breed winners and often wins.

They have 3 world class coaches training the boys, including an Olympic bronze medalist. They are trained to win, in all ways.

It literally brought tears to my eyes.

These boys train HARD. 3 times a week at 3 hours at a time. Sam is SIX. SIX. SIX. Most 6 year olds can barely do a somersault and are most certainly not training NINE hours a week at one sport. Nevermind the hours every week they spend on a bike with their dad around the mountain biking tracks.

They are RIDICULOUSLY fit with washboard abs. And they work damn hard for it.

AND… THEY LOVE IT.

And today after they competed… we stayed and watched the big boys (high school kids) compete and were blown away. It was such inspiration for the boys to stay and watch… and imagine themselves doing that and feeling what it would be like to be like those boys… watching intently and with admiration.

And I gotta say… the coaches had as much pride in those little kids, the whole team, as they did in the big boys. The big smiles they had as they watched these littles dominate the gym was so beautiful. I am so overjoyed with gratitude for finding this gym and seeing my boys absolutely EXCEL.

I love seeing them aspire to greatness.

I admire their dedication to their dreams. It’s a MASSIVE time and energy commitment for them… at the absence of many other hobbies they are interested in, by choice.

And today… to see all their hard work pay off… was such a joyous moment in my life.

To see their OWN PRIDE in themselves…

to see their own joy and courage…

to see them go out there in front of hundreds of people watching them and do their best and have FUN doing it…

was the greatest part of the day.

My greatest achievement in life is these two boys. Hands down. They are truly incredible and I am so dang proud of them.

PS- I’m totally cheering my boys on during the videoing of this, cause… as if I would stay quiet just cause I’m the one videoing .

PPS- The videos are the boys doing their high bar, parallel bars, floor and rings routines. They are rocking it. Can’t wait to compare these in a years time. 🙂
