‘MAYBE IT’S NOT A MIRACLE, MAYBE IT’S PERSISTENCE AND CONSISTENCY’.
I started back at the gym bout a month ago about 7 months post breast reduction surgery and this invert kicked my ass. I laughed at the thought. It was messy. I needed two strong people to help me get in and spot me.
Today… I hung upside down on my own and rolled out beautifully. I still need help getting in and it’s not ‘beautiful’ yet, but it’s a hell of a lot better in ONE month.
I heard my coach say these words to me above as I came out of my first time hitting this alone today (not this video) and said… ‘OMG! I did it! It’s a miracle.’
He said… ‘Maybe it’s not a miracle. Maybe it’s consistency and persistence.’
And I really let it sink in.
He knows I’ve come in each week and been curious and available to improving this trick. He is so right.
It’s consistency and persistence. It wouldn’t have happened had I not decided to improve this and get it done. And showed up each week not wanting to do this, rolling eyes every time he gets us to do it, feeling like a fool, but knowing it’s the way to get stronger in all ways.
It’s so easy for me to say magic and miracles and believe that to be true. They reality is though… magic and miracles come from persistence and consistency.
Continuously showing up, even when it’s hard. Even when I’m the ‘weakest’ person in class and need the most help. Even when it’s messy and I think… there is no fucking way I can do that.
If there is one thing this gym has taught me… I surprise myself every time I go in as to what is possible. I have stopped saying I can’t do it. And get open to how can I do it. Even if it requires help or modifications.., there is a way.., and even if it’s not right away… I can build up to being able to do the things.
It comes from showing up!
It comes from being open to possibilities.
It comes from amazing trainers, a brilliant hubby who teaches me little distinctions along the way, and training buddies who support me and show me the way.
The same is true with all of life!
To create magic and miracles… you get to consistently show up for your dreams… and be persistent about it. Even in the moments you want to give up and throw it all in… show up. Dig deep. Believe in yourself.
The manifestation of your dream is likely just there, for you, but if you stop showing up… you have given up on it and yourself… and it won’t be a magical manifestation into your reality.
Thanks Goncalo Martins. I love coming to your class every week! Thanks for this reminder today. ❤️❤️❤️
PS- this video was taken by Robbie Norley after I finished my hour long class. 💥🤪😉
