MY GREATEST LEGACY
People often ask me what is my legacy… Whilst my mission on this planet is to eliminate poverty and create world peace… (no small mission, I know).
My greatest Legacy is these two human beings. When my gram died… this hit home even more. She made a massive contribution to the planet in making it a better place but her greatest legacy was most definitely the time she spent loving and teaching each generation of her family to be kind, generous, big-hearted (and more) human beings.
We picked up Robbie from camp yesterday and his counsellor was in near tears as she shared what an absolute angel Robbie is. Her words… ‘He is an angel in human form.’ And then proceeded to compliment me and say that he is such a joy and so light and ultimately is the most beautiful reflection of me without knowing a thing about me.
Each and every counsellor that realised that Sam and Robbie are brothers simply looked at each other and said.. ‘of course’. They were both so loved at camp by all the counsellors and campers. They are magnetic and so kind and sweet and of course… killing it on their mountain bikes thanks to their hours each week on a bike on trails with their daddy.
I used to brush off these beautiful compliments, thinking ‘Oh… you are just saying that’. But with every person who my kid’s touch and come back to me telling me what a joy it is to have them in their lives… I truly take it to heart and feel such gratitude for this reflection. They both truly do… light up a room.
I also have learned to own that yes… Hugh and I both consciously put in a massive effort to raise these kids and are leaving an absolutely beautiful legacy in this world in these two gorgeous human beings.
They are our pride and joy. They so beautifully take the lessons we teach them about living a conscious life and going for their dreams while treating people with love and respect and integrate them into who they be.
I get teary with absolute love and pride for these two and feel so grateful to be their mama. It is the most challenging and joy-filled job I could ever have taken on and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I so look forward to seeing what these two do with their lives. I have no idea where they will end up, but I know they will do it with love and gratitude and big open hearts.
I am also grateful I’m not alone in raising amazing light-beings for children in this world right now. The world needs us to bring this next generation in to create massive change on this planet and I’m honoured to be a part of creating the next wave of light on the planet.
Here’s to all of us parents doing the inner work to shine and show our kids how to be the gorgeous lights that they are and teach them not to let the world or other people dim their lights.
Here’s to all the parents doing their best to make it through life with love and give their kids the best they can.
This certainly isn’t an easy job and we are all doing the best we can with the resources we have available.
I’m sitting here enjoying their chatter. I love giving my boys wings to fly, but it’s so nice to have them home again. My heart is full.
