I did what no one thought I would do… rode the bike trails with my boys.
Hugh is in avid mountain biker. He’s turned the boys into very impressive riders. ie: Robbie just got a proper dual suspension bike for his birthday and is kicking ass on these trails. I have never wanted to ride them.
Last week… Sam was chickening out on riding. He has upgraded to Robbie’s old front suspension bike and it’s bigger for him and he’s adjusting to it.
Out of my mouth… I said… “if you go, I’ll go.”
I thought I’m gonna regret this as the words left my mouth.
They #ofcourse held me to it.
It’s not hard. I knew that. A 4yo can do this track. But going up to the top, I was scared.
It’s ridiculous. But aren’t most of our fears?
Not only did I do this… I challenged myself to do the one next to it, too! It’s harder. The jumps are way bigger, the turns tighter. I did it. Not once but twice.
I stopped cause I literally don’t have a functioning back brake and my front one was making some not so pleasant noises.
Undecided if I’ll return, but shhh… I could probably be convinced, if my brakes are working.
All the boys are shocked to see me on the trails.
The way I look at it… all these little fears that are in life… if we can overcome these… we overcome the bigger ones.
It’s a muscle to build… the “overcoming fear muscle”. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
What fear do you have that you could tackle today or at least sometime this week?
